Excerpt from the Book: Anita was a young woman who faced having to live with a certain amount of lower back pain emanating from an inoperable condition.  Her peak period of pain was in the evening, after her workday.  She was aware that her job kept her distracted from the pain, while at home she had more time to focus on it.

     Over a short period of time, Anita constructed the most beautiful, appealing fantasy she could imagine.  It involved being in a gorgeous, color splashed garden with a huge, blue water pool fed by a fountain shooting high into the air.  The most fascinating inhabitant of the garden was a bird the color of bright, shiny gold.

     Anita worked out an agreement with the bird that, whenever she became caught up in her pain, the bird would appear and guide her to her garden.  This became an automatic occurrence which never failed to distract her from her discomfort.
